Warwick Castle and Cotswold

After a nice cup of chai and delicious poha for breakfast prepared by Puja, we headed out to the Warwick Castle, a medieval castle whose original version was built in 1068. www. warwick-castle.com for more details. The castle grounds and the structure were impressive and the "Battle of the Roses" show, an enactment of the important historical event gave us a good perspective about the series of wars for the control of the throne of England between the house of Lancaster and the house of York represented by the symbol red and white roses respectively. We explored the different areas of the castle and especially climbing up the on the top of the towers for the lovely views of the Warwickshire town and the Avon river.

After Chinmay left with Ashish to the coach station to go to LHR for his flight to Frankfurt, Puja, Kairav and I had a delicious veggie pizza with goat cheese at Pizza Express. Puja drove us through the beautiful English to the quaint town of Cotswold. The vibe was completely laid back with the cafes wrapping up their "afternoon tea", people just hanging out on the green patches of sidewalk along the row of boutiques and cafes, a very picturesque village indeed! We had a leisurely stroll on the high street (that's what the English call their streets lined with shops) and couldn't stop admiring the tree lined brook that cut across the street. Kairav rejoiced touching the water and wished he had a swim suit on to walk in the shallow pebble filled brook!

Like most of our itineraries, this one was anything but simple. The equation involved meeting up Parishi and Kahan, who were flying from India somewhere in Europe close enough to ultimately travel together in Paris and London. Chinmay and I, together with our little travel buddy, Kairav are ready to take off from San Fransisco to London, where we look forward to spending some time with Puja and her family in Birmingham. Chinmay flies out to Frankfurt from London Heathrow on the 24th night and Kairav and I fly to Paris from Birmingham on the 25th. Chinmay collects the kids who are flying from Mumbai to Frankfurt with Vaishali and the trio takes the train to Paris where we all finally meet to commence our exciting adventure. The excitement of the trip is heightened by the anticipation of seeing the kids after 35 days! Boring logistics, but important enough to register in the memory bank aka "travel blog"!

All Aboard!
